about

Ah, the difficult second album. Well, EP.

My first EP was a deeply personal effort, primarily about the loss of my daughter. This album is not about that but is inspired by recent events that have been happening in my life and the emotions that have surfaced as a result.

To be honest, I really wasn’t sure how I was going to follow ‘Assemblage’ - it had taken me quite a while to write and being my first release, I didn't know where I should go next or if I should go anywhere at all. Upon it's release though I had very unexpected levels of support and some incredibly positive feedback (thanks all!) so I knew I had to sit down at the computer again.

The result is ‘A Drowning’, a six piece suite of music which I think is similar enough to ‘Assemblage’ to satisfy the people who liked that but with a little more experimentation and boundary pushing to keep things interesting.
There's a very rough concept/story gluing it together as well as some musical themes which link up various tracks for those that like that sort of thing. (I’m a big prog rock fan, what can I say!)

Without giving too much away, these tracks were born out of frustration with a system that seems to actively ignore people rather than help them and the hope that one day there may be some kind of vindication and justice. Oh, and you can dance to it too.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
Thank you.
Steve
